The measurement of chlorine electrode can be carried out by photoelectric colorimetry or electrochemical sensing.Understanding the principle of measurement of residual chlorine electrode of different brands can be applied according to its characteristics.Such as:


1.Coated electrode:the electrode is immersed in the electrolyte cavity,which is in contact with water through porous hydrophilic membrane.Hypochlorous acid diffused into the electrolyte cavity through the porous hydrophilic membrane,forming a current on the electrode surface.The current depends on the speed of hypochlorous acid diffused into the electrolyte cavity,and the diffusion speed is proportional to the concentration of residual chlorine in the solution.The concentration of residual chlorine in the solution can be determined by measuring the current size.


Features:No reagent required.There will be drift in the use of surfactant containing interface,membrane hole will be blocked by lipids,the need to regularly clean and replace the diaphragm and electrolyte.DPD indicator shall be used for calibration.The ph of the measured environment was synchronized with that of the water.Combined with the interference of chlorine in water sterilization,the actual bactericidal strength of water may be low.


2.Optical colorimetric method:DPD indicator is pumped into industrial peristaltic pump and reacts with water to develop color,and the absorbent reads the remaining chlorine content according to the intensity of developing color.


Characteristics:the measured value and water pH value is different,humidity will affect the interpretation value.DPD indicator shall be used for calibration.The measured environment is not synchronized with the ph of water,and the bactericidal ability of water is interfered by ph and combined chlorine,so the actual bactericidal strength of water may be low.


3.Membraneless electrode:Residual chlorine is a strong oxidant,and its REDOX potential(ORP)is in an exponential relationship with the content of residual chlorine in the solution,and the REDOX potential is converted to the content of residual chlorine by the program.


Features:Conversion of residual chlorine value by REDOX potential(ORP).Zero and slope should be used for calibration with DPD indicator.The measured environment is synchronized with the ph and combined chlorine of water,and the measured value shows the converted residual chlorine value of the actual bactericidal strength measure of water,and the actual residual chlorine concentration of water may be high.
